The bar is set low in the garage door industry with many large companies who make their profits by selling parts to customers. They do this by taking advantage of what the customer doesn't know and then convincing them that they need new hardware or even a brand new garage door to fix their issue.

 

Some companies even encourage their technicians to lie to make a sale and then they get a piece of the profit from that sale. 

 

For one call in particular we were asked to repair a garage door. The customer wanted a second opinion after a larger company came out to give a quote. The larger company suggested making over $1500.00 in repairs to fix the issue! We fixed the real issue for a fraction of the price by making a simple adjustment.

Please note, not all large garage door companies use shady tactics to make profit, there are some really good ones out there! Smaller companies have been known to use these shady tactics as well. There are other great companies out there that have ethical practices and will treat you fairly.
